Live from Campus
An update for Alumni, Parents, and Friends
So many friends have reached out during this unprecedented time for the Jewish community, to express their love, and to graciously ask how they can support our work as we partner with the University to ensure the safety and well-being of every Jew at Harvard. It has never been more important to come together to celebrate Jewish identity, support the Jewish community, and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel. With the situation evolving daily, we are launching this newsletter to enable Harvard Chabad alumni, parents, and friends to learn what is happening on campus – including our engagement with University leadership. We are deeply grateful for the leadership and support of Harvard Chabad’s Board of Advisors, benefactors, alumni, parents, and friends. Invite your peers, parents and friends, asking them to sign up via this form so they too can continue receiving our updates. |
In this first installment, you’ll see the many initiatives we led in recent weeks and the impact they have made across the Harvard community and beyond. Some highlights from the past month include: A Shabbat Table Installation in Harvard Yard with 240 chairs and photos of the 240+ hostages attended by Harvard University President and school Deans and seen by thousands. Securing and furnishing four apartments for Israeli families finding refuge in Boston with winter clothes, strollers, and furniture. Shabbat1000 – with Harvard University President Claudine Gay and many school Deans in attendance, was held on the first Shabbat after the attacks. Community vigils in Harvard Yard with over 1000 attendees including many Harvard Faculty Members. Fireside chats on Israel with Bill Ackman, Congressman Seth Moulton, and former Congressman AJC CEO Ted Deutsch. See more from Bill Ackman’s talk here Rabbi Hirschy continues to engage Harvard’s leadership and administration, including its major donors, in a serious and long-lasting dialogue about antisemitism.
